Education and Training:

Doctor of Psychology from Northwest University

Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology from Northwest University

Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Northwest University

Dr. D’Ettorre received her clinical training at the Meier Clinic Intensive Day Program working with clients in acute psychological crisis.  She also trained at Northshore Youth and Family Services working with children, teens, adults and families experiencing a wide array of psychological and relationship issues.

Background and Experience:

Dr. D’Ettorre is the mother of 5 grown children and has been married for 30 years. She gained an interest in counseling psychology while working as a dental hygienist caring for patients who were scared and hurting. She also spent many years in ministry focusing on youth and family issues, served in various leadership roles and worked with at-risk teens through the public-school system. Dr. D’Ettorre has conducted research on spiritual coping, spiritual struggle and post-traumatic growth and is currently an Adjunct Professor at Northwest University teaching a variety of psychology classes.

Dr. D’Ettorre believes in meeting people where they are and is convinced that the therapeutic relationship provides a healing environment. As such, she is committed to treating clients with unconditional positive regard and empathy.  Her approach to each client is dependent upon the nature and need of the individual and/or family seeking help. She works within an integrative framework consisting of person-centered and cognitive-behavioral theories. By incorporating cognitive, behavioral, and expressive interventions, clients relearn how to perceive, cope and respond to life events and relationships effectively. The result is a life that is more hopeful, positive, fulfilling and resilient.
