Background and Experience:

Dr. Diane Sora Shin has trained and worked in various settings providing both therapy and psychological and neuropsychological evaluations to children (as young as 5 years old), adolescents, and young adults. Dr. Shin also has experience volunteering and working in schools, community mental health centers, churches, and group practices. She has also co-led parent training programs to support parents of young children navigate challenging child behaviors and aggression at home. She has also conducted research on Asian American Christians navigating sexual identity development. 

Special Interests and Services:

Dr. Shin specializes in psychological and neuropsychological evaluations and aims to collaborate with clients and families to understand the unique backgrounds, needs, strengths, and challenges of each client. She also places an emphasis on using this information to provide clients and families with greater insight into their questions and concerns and present individualized and concrete recommendations. She has experience in supporting individuals with questions related to attention and focus, learning/school difficulties, social and emotional challenges, and giftedness.

Dr. Shin also offers therapy services for children (as young as 5 years old), teens, and young adults who may be experiencing anxiety, relationship difficulties, life stressors and transitions, depression, and more. She provides a warm, empathetic, and calm presence for her clients to help them feel understood, gain insight about themselves and others, and learn new skills. When working with children, Dr. Shin also uses interactive play and art therapy techniques.

Dr. Shin also has a strong interest in working with Asian American families and young adults who are looking to address difficulties related to family-of-origin experiences, intergenerational family issues, navigating family or cultural values and expectations, and cultural identity.
